UAE keen to invest in new India schemes

The UAE's foreign minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on a two-day visit to Delhi, said that his country is looking to invest in programmes like Make in India, Digital India and Smart Cities.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi met the UAE Foreign Minister and recalled his highly successful visit to the UAE and said that it has chartered a new course in bilateral relations between the two countries that would not only be beneficial for the two countries, but also contribute to peace and prosperity in Asia and beyond.

Talking about the investment plans in India, the UAE minister was quoted as saying "We are determined to attract more investment into India in various sectors. I am extremely keen to hear and listen from you some of the proposals, especially Make in India, Digital India and Smart City initiatives,”.

The UAE foreign minister led a delegation of more than 80 members, consisting of senior officials and industry leaders, for the India-UAE joint commission meeting on technical and economical cooperation, held in New Delhi on September 2-3.

The two sides also signed an agreement for setting up a joint business council for stronger economic ties and growth of bilateral business.
