Aiming to develop Amritsar as a ‘Smart City’, the 500 metre stretch of road from Chowk Phuwara to Golden Temple would be developed as “world’s best street.

The surrounding areas of Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh will be maintained as per global standards.

Punjab Government has announced that it will integrate ‘Mobile Seva’ scheme in all the state departments aiming at mainstreaming mobile governance as a compelling new paradigm for the delivery of public services.

‘Mobile Seva’ is a country-wide initiative on mobile governance that aims to enable all government departments and agencies to provide services on various mobile channels such as short message service (SMS), integrated voice response system (IVRS), unstructured supplementary service data and mobile applications.

The initiative by the central government aims at mainstreaming mobile governance in the country as a compelling new paradigm for delivery of public services electronically through the mobile platform.

Punjab government has also the first of its kind mechanized cleanliness project in the state and announced the same will be replicated in all five corporation cities by October this year. All these initiatives makes Punjab strongly focused on ‘Smart Cities’ mission.
