Projects worth Rs 9.35 bn up for grabs in Mangaluru

Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL) Managing Director Mohammed Nazeer called upon citizens to cooperate with the authorities for the implementation of various projects to be taken up under the Smart City mission. At an interaction program with various organisations and institutions, Nazeer said that while several works have already been taken up, the MSCL has already prepared action plans for many future projects.

“While there are 45 projects before the MSCL, 13 are being implemented under the pan city scheme. Meanwhile, 32 works are aimed at development of regions. We have identified eight wards measuring 1,628 acres to implement projects worth Rs 20 billion.

City development, greenery and regional development will be given emphasis while implementing Smart City projects. The pan city development also involves incorporation of technology to develop the city’s infrastructure,” he said.

LED lamps have been installed at various places in the city at a cost of Rs 1.9 crore. A clock tower has been constructed at a cost of Rs 75 lakh at Hampankatta. Development of the Clock Tower-A B Shetty Circle road is being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 6.2 crore. A total 18 works which are being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 477.7 crore are under progress, he said.

Tenders have been invited for the construction of a swimming pool of international standards for Rs 24.9 crore, development of Kadri Park at Rs 12 crore, Command and Control Centre (Rs 5 crore), skill development centre (Rs 4.8 crore) and 10 other projects worth Rs 77.8 crore. Meanwhile, detailed project reports (DPR) are being prepared for 11 projects to be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 9.35 billion, he added.
