Now, Pune deploys 'Swachta Mitra' to promote zero garbage project

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has tied up with the Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) to launch ‘Zero Waste Project’ under area based development project of the smart city. The organizers of the project have decided to deploy 30 Swachta Mitras for creating awareness about the initiative.

The areas—Aundh, Baner, Balewadi, Pashan, Bopodi and Sutarwadi—will be studied. The data collection process for the implementation of this initiative has started, and the programme will cover around 90,000 households.

The survey will cover various types of constructions within the jurisdiction of 'areas development' section. These properties include slum residential, non-slum residential, commercial, institutional, semi-government and government.

The project includes surveys and GIS mapping, communication and education awareness programs, capacity building and scheme implementation, monitoring and assurance for garbage processing.
