In its bid to get maximum public feedback and ideas for the preparation of the smart city proposal, the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) has not only opened the called centre, but also tapped the online media by opening an exclusive Facebook account, Twitter handle and Gmail account.

"The idea is to involve people in the preparation of a comprehensive proposal. We have opened electronic accounts for smart phone users. They can air their views by making a few clicks on their mobiles," the District Collector and Special Officer of KMC H Arun Kumar was quoted as saying by The Hindu newspaper.

Kakinada is one of the three cities shortlisted from Andhra Pradesh for the government's ambitous '100 Smart Cities' plan. Vishakhapattnam and Tirupati are the other two.
