When it comes to living in a populous region, every inch counts. And parking in such areas is a luxury. Rise in income and increase in the vehicular demand has lead to a shortage of parking spaces. Areas around metro and railway stations highly demand for parking space and it is going to be a major relief for the people in Hyderabad as the Integrated Smart Parking Management System (ISPMS) is expected to start within a week at the Habsiguda metro station in Hyderabad. Following it, the project is expected to extend to other metro stations as well.
ISPMS helps people to check available bays and park their vehicles. One can obtain the information by simply downloading the mobile app to check the availability of bays. A fare of Rs 6 for the first two hours and Rs 3 per hour thereafter will be charged for two wheelers. However, Rs 16 for first two hours and Rs 8 per hour after that would be charged for four wheelers, informed the officials. Users can avail online payment mode as well.
The construction of Habsiguda is completed and no parking fee has been collected till date as smart parking is yet to begin. However, the initiative of smart parking received a mixed response as some were concerned over spending extra money every day, while others were of the opinion that parking will promote security and relief.
Metro commuters park their vehicles under flyovers due to space crunch. For instance, Khairatabad, Begumpet, Tarnaka and Habsiguda metro stations. At present, HMRL has finalised the bids for the development of ISPMS at 24 metro stations, with a multi-level parking in the coming nine months. Novum, a multi-level parking complex spread across 2,000 sq m with 15 floors will come up near Nampally metro station.
