Government schools in Belagavi get tech savvy under “Smart School” scheme

The Belagavi Smart City has launched Smart School scheme in 11 State-run schools in the district to enhance both teaching and learning experiences. Under the scheme, each school received 20 computers and a 75-inch smart board panel. The panel will facilitate the e-library to students of class 1 to 10. The e-library comprises academic books and books on current affairs and general knowledge that will help them take part in competitive exams. The computers and smart boards will be maintained by contractors for five years.

Shashidhar Kurer, Managing Director, Belagavi Smart City: “This scheme would help to enhance the knowledge of students at primary level. The project will cost Rs 5.39 crore.”

Under the first phase, the project was implemented at Government Chintamanrao School in Shahpur, KHPS No. 4, KHPS No. 17 Bharath Nagar, Saradhar School in Kanabaragi, KHPS No. 24 Mahantesh Nagar, Marathi school No 5 Vadagaon and MHPS No. 13 Old Belagavi.

The project was implemented at Vantamuri School No. 33, Kanjaragalli Urdu School and a Government school in Vishweshwaraiah Nagar in the second phase. As many as 2, 736 students are expected to benefit from the project. The schools for the project were identified on the basis of enrolment and schools with more than 200 students were selected.
