Tiruchi has announced that the draft of the final Smart City Plan will be ready by November 20, following which it would be presented before the stakeholders for another rough of discussion.
According to the '100 Smart Cities' mission, the nominated cities are suppose to submit the Smart City Plan by December 15 to the Centre for review, based on which the top 20 cities will be selected for funding in the first year of the mission.
Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in association with Townland Consultants and Tata Consulting Engineers are the consultant appointed by Tiruchi which will be assisting the civic body to prepare the proposal for the nationwide Smart City challenge.
The consultants and the civic body are currently engaged in compiling and considering the suggestions that were aired at the stakeholders meetings and also those received online and through the public booths opened by the Corporation.
The draft proposal would outline the model chosen, the programmes planned and their financial viability.
Tiruchi will be competing with 11 other cites from the state of Tamil Nadu for the smart cities challenge.
