Dharamsala smart city plan to be prepared for Rs 17.50 lakh

The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI), Delhi, has been entrusted with the task of preparing the Smart City proposals for Dharamsala, the picturesque town of Himachal Pradesh.

The consultant has been given the taks to prepared the smart city plan within 70 days in consultation with stakeholders and the community.

According to local media reports, "Presentations were made by TERI and the Red Cross for getting the consultancy and the contract has been awarded to TERI," said JM Pathania, Director, Urban Development.

TERI had been asked to submit its proposal within 70 days as the final document had to be submitted to the Centre by 15 December, 2015, as for the current fiscal year, only 20 cities would be developed as smart cities, said Pathania.

Overall, the Dharamsala Municipal Committee received eleven proposals but only two came forward to make the presentations.

The report added that TERI has been awarded the consultancy for Rs 17.50 lakh.
