The construction of much-delayed, third phase of the Panjim municipal market, which is expected to accommodate the fish and meat vendors, will now be taken up under Smart City Mission.
The decision was taken during a meeting held recently chaired by Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate with Imagine Smart City Development Limited (ISCDL) CEO Swayan Chaudhuri and City Mayor Uday Madkaikar and other officials. The meeting decided to take up various priority works in Panjim and Ribandar post monsoon season.
Madkaikar said the construction of third phase of Municipal market will be taken up under Smart City Mission. He said the project will come up at area admeasuring 2,400 sq mts and will house fish and meat vendors along with other shops located in the peripheral of the market complex.
Further, the meeting resolved to reconstruct new road from Caculo circle to Adarsh Colony at Tonca, with proper drainage system and underground cabling. Also, the bridge over St Inez Creek near Tonca sewerage plant will be taken up by ISCDL, he said.
Madkaikar said various projects for Ribandar area are also identified and approved including new market, a public health centre, playground and sub-office of the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP).
“Directions are issued to prepare the estimate of the projects. Estimation and tendering will take another two months. If everything goes well, the work can begin from first week of November, in phase manner,” Madkaikar said.
