Aligarh taps social media to allay smart cities queries

The Aligarh administration has found a new and convenient idea to soothe nerves of anxious citizens filled with questions related the smart city concept.

Ever since, Aligarh was selected as of the 13 cities from the state of Uttar Pradesh for the 100 Smart Cities Challenge, the Nagar Nigam has been receiving anxious questions including the razing the city to the ground to build afresh.

Hence, municipal body has now set up Facebook and Twitter accounts and also started an email service to address such queries.

The municipal commissioner Santosh Kumar Sharma said “These (social media accounts) will offer us a wish list of the people. Any suggestions that are practical and financially viable will be welcome." at the launch of the accounts.
