Smart Cities Mission in full swing

This week seems to be a blockbuster week for the progress of smart city work in India as various cities have issued as many as 28 tenders pertaining to Smart Cities Mission. Cities like Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Patna (Bihar) have issued tenders for Public Bicycle Sharing System (PBS), whereas Patna, Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), and Agartala (Tripura) have issued project management consultancy tenders to design, develop, manage and implement smart city projects. Meanwhile, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) have come out with smart parking solution tenders on a public-private partnership (PPP) mode.

Ujjain Smart City (Madhya Pradesh) and Jaipur Smart City (Rajasthan) have issued tenders for system integrator to design, implement, operate and maintain smart solutions public buses and municipal vehicles; and, smart digital solutions for integrated solid waste management systems, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Amaravati Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh has issued request for qualification-cum-request for proposal (RFQ-cum-RFP) for investigation, survey, detailed design, construction, testing and commissioning of infrastructure works for roads, storm water drains, water supply, sewerage and utility ducts. That apart, the city administration has also issued RFQ-cum-RFP for investigation, detail design and construction of smart trunk infrastructure with roads, storm water drains, water supply network, sewerage network, utility ducts for power and ICT, reuse waterline, pedestrian tracks, cycle tracks, avenue plantation and street furniture, etc.

That said, the Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation of Andhra Pradesh has come out with RFP for beautification of streets including streetscape design, landscaping and intersection redesign in Visakhapatnam’s Area Based Development (ABD) area. In addition, the city has issued RFQ-cum-RFP for retrofitting of existing sewerage system and reuse of treated sewerage through PPP on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT). Also, the city has issued RFP for implementation of 5 MW grid connected canal top solar PV system on Raiwada Canal in Visakhapatnam under RESCO Model..
