The Erode City Corporation (ECC) completed its zonal-level meetings for availing ideas, suggestions, and feedback for preparing the Smart City proposal. As a next step these views will be consolidated before formulation of the final city plan.
According to R Mohan, the ECC commissioner, the main points highlighted at the meetings in all the four zones were daily supply of drinking water and complete coverage of the city in the underground drainage project, as reported by The Hindu newspaper.
The report added that the Erode Tax Payers People's Welfare Trust laid emphasis on hassle-free drinking water supply through construction of adequate number of overhead tanks at ward-level; and addressing traffic congestion and constructing subways.
Installing three separate chambers underground - one each for power lines, cables, and water pipelines.
Among other suggestions received were – on one primary health care unit in every five wards and two public toilets per ward, need for multi-storeyed parking lots and cleaning of main canals.
